Claudia D. Stowe Petrick, 67, of Rapid City, found her peace on Monday, March 26, 2018 after a courageous battle with ALS at the Rapid City Regional Hospice House.
Claudia was born April 2, 1950 to Douglas and Eleanor (Korrup) Stowe in Guam, Micronesia, after which the family moved to Camp Lejeune. Her family travelled throughout her childhood, with her father's work taking them to varied Marine bases.
Claudia's family settled in Long Beach, CA, which she considered her true home.
Claudia fully embraced the California lifestyle by participating in volleyball, softball and roller derby. She had a long career with the telephone company and UPS where she made lifelong friends.
On a trip to the Black Hills in 1975, she was smitten and vowed to return. Claudia moved to Rapid City permanently in the mid 80's, working at the Pennington County Register of Deeds and Herberger's until her retirement.
Claudia was a talented make up artist and loved helping people feel beautiful. Her years at the Lancome Cosmetic department, brought her clients and friends she made there, much joy.
Claudia married Gary Petrick on April 18, 2009 after a long and blissful engagement. They loved cocktails, camping, four wheeling and entertaining their friends.
She was an avid chef and traveler, spending time with her adopted family in France, Spain, England, Mexico and the Bahamas.
Claudia is survived by her husband, Gary, her son, Casey and his wife, Jess and her grandchildren; Madison, Logan and Ella, her sister, Gail, niece, Robin and many other nieces and nephews.
Claudia loved life and always said, she had no regrets.
Claudia told the most special people in her life, "I love you more than my luggage."
"We love you more than all of our luggage, too, Claudia!"
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Entombment of her ashes will take place at a future date at Black Hills National Cemetery.
A memorial has been established by the family.
