Obituary

RAPID CITY – Cole Joseph Andrew's bright blue eyes captured the attention of everyone when he was born in the wee hours on March 16,1995. As a third straight Hoime generation twin, we all excitedly welcomed him and his twin sister, Carin, into the world.

Cole was a naturally thoughtful, sweet, and kind child. I remember a teacher at his elementary school told me that Cole, as a 5 year old kindergartener, would stay back to help any children who needed help opening the door. What proud parents Greg and I were to hear that story. At an early age Cole was a creative artist and continued to love designing and drawing as he grew. He enjoyed music, signing, dancing, and watching classic TV shows like the Carol Burnett show.

Growing up he spent adventurous times with our family on multiple Colorado ski trips with Grandpa "Papa'' Chet and everyone. He also went on sunny vacations to Florida with his Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Dick, Aunt Shelly and her family, and at Hoime family reunions with Uncle Mike. As a family we traveled to Hawaii with Grandma Karen, Uncle Todd, Uncle Chad and family.

Cole was a natural when he began rock climbing with our family in the Black Hills. His bravery and strength to weight ratio helped him summit a 90 foot climb on his first attempt close to Mount Rushmore. He was also an avid runner.

Cole helped build our family home alongside his dad, Greg, and older brother Connor. Together they maintained our home yard and 120 acres at our family cabin in the Black Hills. His grandma, Karen, loved working outdoors with all of them. I treasured all of the special hikes and discoveries Cole and his siblings marveled at in the wilderness. Warm memories of annual pumpkin carving get-togethers, campfires, making s'mores, and exploring Rapid Creek are cherished memories we hold close in our hearts of time spent with Cole. Cozy family Christmases, whether in Rapid City or elsewhere with family are comforting, memorable times.

In his mid twenties, Cole met Kasey and loved him deeply. He was so honored, proud, and happy to spend time with him and his adorable cat, Chip. Doing simple things together with Kasey and Cole's dogs, Chester and MoeBee, like taking walks in the forest, was one of Cole's favorite things. During these years Cole continued learning and enrolled in college courses with Black Hills State University. His efforts paid off with high marks.

Cole is a non-extinguishable light in all of our hearts and we hope he knew how immensely he was loved. It seems impossible to go on without him, but we will find strength, just as he so often did, to navigate life's challenges.

Cole is survived by his parents: Greg and Cindy Andrew, his Twin Carin Andrew and Brother Connor Andrew, Grandma Karen Andrew, Uncle Chad Andrew, Cousin Dillon Andrew, Uncle Mike Robinson, Aunt Shelly Robinson Easley, and family. He was preceded in death by his Grandpa Chet Andrew, Grandparents Richard and Kathy Robinson, and Uncle Todd Andrew.
