RAPID CITYConnie M. Tichi, 75, died on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Connie was born on February 8, 1939, near Isabel, to Percy and Frieda (Lutz) Whittlinger. She grew up in Isabel married Samuel Tichi there. She eventually moved to Rapid City from Pierre in 1998 and retired after 7 years with Rapid City Regional Hospital. Connie was a very hard worker and was very generous. She enjoyed baking cakes for any occasion and welcomed people into her home. Connie like playing cards, Bingo and watching the Price is Right, Dr. Quinn and JAG. Connie was a life member of the DAV Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of Minneluzahan Senior Center and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survivors include 4 daughters, Margaret (Tom) Broadbent, Black Hawk, Susan (Tony Rodriguez) Scheuermann, Salinas, Calif., Patricia (Eric) Seim, Rapid City and Vicky Bodily, Brigham City, Utah; a son, Allen (Rosenda) Tichi, San Jose, California; her significant other, Ken Mowrer, Rapid City; 4 sisters, Donna (Keith Lowary) Tichi, Aberdeen, Betty (Norman) Hieb, Timber Lake, Elsie (Olaus) Njos, Nemo and Janice (Chuck Davidson) Bostelmann, Mound City; a brother, James (Mary) Young, Atlanta, Indiana; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frieda Young, her father, Percy Whittlinger, her step-dad, Warren Young, her daughter, Alice Gorman, her brother, Lewis Whittlinger, her grandson, Kenneth Heuer and a great-granddaughter. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1630 Rushmore Street, (behind Dairy Queen on Canyon Lake Drive) with the Rev. Joshua Jones officiating. Burial will be at Hillview Cemetery in Isabel at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Family will gather at the Isabel Cafe after the burial. Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1630 Rushmore St., Rapid City, SD 57702.
