Obituary

Craig Steinman, 70, of Rapid City, passed away with his family by his side on June 16, 2018, at Hospice of the Hills.

He was born Aug. 30, 1947, in Lafayette, IN, to Harry and Phyllis (Craig) Steinman Jr. He graduated from Watseka Community High School in Illinois and then served in the Marine Corps from 1967-1971. After the service, Craig returned to college and graduated from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL, with a BB in Accounting.

Craig accepted a position as a CPA with McGladrey & Pullen in the Quad Cities and was admitted to the partnership in 1983. Work transfers took him to Pasadena, CA, and then to Rapid City. While in Rapid City, he joined Ketel Thorstenson LLP. In 2007, he became the VP-CFO of RCC Western Stores, Inc., from which he retired in November 2012.

He served on the Board of the Historic Homestake Opera House, Arrowhead Country Club, and Riddle's Group Inc. Craig loved to golf and play cards. He had especially fond memories of his trip to Scotland where he played the challenging links courses. For 36 years he never missed his two annual trips to Canada to his favorite walleye fishing camp. He enjoyed cooking and was never happier than when he could share his good food and the fine wine from his collection with friends and family.

Craig is survived by his wife, Patrice; his son, Thomas (Mikaela) Steinman of Bennett, IA; his sister, Linda Kaminski of Aurora, CO; nephew, Kent (Amanda) Kaminski; niece, Janelle (Rob) McHenry; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 25, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

Services will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at South Canyon Lutheran Church, with a reception immediately following at Arrowhead Country Club.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cancer Care Institute, Hospice of the Hills, or a charity of choice.
