Obituary

Dale R. Barck, 81, of Rapid City, passed away at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011. Dale was born November 19, 1930, to Lyle and Alice (Eckman) Barck in Watertown, S.D. He married Theresa Blais on June 2, 1951, at Camp Carson Army Base, Colo. Dale served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for local contractors for many years and ended his career as the lead carpentry instructor at Box Elder Job Corp. He retired in 1994. He enjoyed many activities including bowling, fishing, and off-road racing with family members by his side. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Barck, Rapid City; a son, Edward (Deb) Barck, Henderson, Nev.; a daughter, Rosanna Marohn, Rapid City; a brother, Ray (Donna) Barck, Rapid City; a sister, Betty (Lavern) Lohmiller, Hot Springs, three grandchildren, Shon Hanczyc (Kathy Hyle), Rapid City; Travis Barck, Vancouver, Canada; Alisha (Aaron) Paulson, Dillon, Mont.; and three great-grandchildren, Meghan, Ethan and Aiden, of Rapid City. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Amelia Anne Barck, in 1970. Visitation will be on Monday, Jan. 2, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. vigil service and rosary recitation at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with the Rev. Nathan Sparks presiding. Burial, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota Army National Guard, will be at 1 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery.
