Rapid City – Dale M. Bruns, 91 Rapid City died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Dale Maloy Bruns was born August 26, 1924 at Terraville, South Dakota to Avis and Lurena [Sequin] Bruns. He attended school at Deadwood, graduating from Deadwood High School. He then attended National College in Rapid City. He entered the United States Army on July 6, 1943 and until February 22, 1946 when he was honorably discharged.
After his discharge he worked in the Northern Black Hills at several locations. He married Doris Mae Hoffman on July 18, 198 at Whitewood. She died April 3, 1996. He became the Postmaster at the Whitewood Post Office in 1954 and held that position until he retired in 1978. He moved to Rapid City in 1981 where he continued to live until his death. He married Betty Pervich on February 14, 1997 in Rapid City. Betty died December 24, 2008. He then married Helen Bruns on Sept 24, 2011 at Rapid City.
Dale was selected to be one of the veterans to attend the Honor Flight to Washington DC.
Survivors include his wife: Helen Bruns of Rapid City; two sons: Bruce J. [Candy] Bruns of Rapid City and Curtis R. Bruns of Spearfish; one granddaughter: Katrina Lund of Newcastle, WY; and four great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Thursday, January 28 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, January 29 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1012 Soo San Drive with Rev. Dillon Ferguson officiating.
Inurnment will be 11:00 am Monday, February 1 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
