Obituary

Dale Nuttle was granted entrance into heaven on August 14, 2012 at the Rapid City Hospice of the Hills. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends in an outpouring of love. Dale was born November 3rd, 1948, in the small farming town of Lima, Ohio to Doris Nevergall and Robert Nuttle. The eldest of four, he is survived by his brothers Joe and Casey Nuttle, and sister Tammy Boroff. He graduated from Mendon Union High School in 1966. Dale excelled at sports in his youth. His love of play continued as he became a father of three children with former wife, Loretta King. He raised his children, Bobby, Shelli, and Christopher in a loving home, full of laughter and stories. A member of the United States Air Force, he moved cross country and to Belgium before retiring in South Dakota. Upon retiring, he became a teacher at North Middle School. A natural coach, he loved teaching kids on and off the field a variety of sports. Dale was always quick to share a story and smile with whoever he met. Dale was always gregarious and passionate about life. If you could not find him playing with his grandkids or friends, then he had snuck back out onto the golf course. Even as age tried to slow him down, he continued to work in children's lives through Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Dale is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Christopher Michael Nuttle. He is survived by his wife, Marie; his son Bobby and wife Kate; his daughter Shelli and husband Aaron; his grandchildren, Olivia, Ian, and Isabel Grinager, Noah and Morry Nuttle, and Michael, Sidney and Andrew Haupt. Visitation will be at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard on Thursday, August 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Fountain Springs Community Church, 2100 North Plaza Drive on Friday August 17 at 10:00 am. A celebration of his life will immediately follow. All are welcomed to come celebrate his life. A private burial will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis later in the day, with military honors by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard.
