Rapid City – Daniel Emel Halvorson, 56, of Rapid City, SD went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

Dan was born in Forest City, Iowa on January 2, 1965, to Larry Dean Halvorson and Lillian Marie (Cartney) Halvorson. Dan was the second of eight children. Dan lived in a few other places, but Rapid City was his home. In 1991 he married Julie Jackson and three children were blessed from this union: Sam Halvorson, Jessica Halvorson, and Grace Halvorson.

Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents: Emel and Ruth Halvorson and Francis and Frances Cartney; his brother Joel Halvorson; his wife Julie Halvorson; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and a nephew Michael Halvorson.

Dan is survived by his children: Sam, Jessica, and Grace Halvorson. He is also survived by his parents: Larry and Lillian Halvorson; two brothers: Terry Halvorson (Beth Ann) and their son Nathan Halvorson and his two sons; four sisters: Julie McIntire (Dave) and their three sons; Becky Bingham (Randy) and their four children, Sarah Halvorson and her three daughters; and Hannah Anderson and her four children; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, July 25 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Devotional Service at 5:00 pm.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Monday, July 26 at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church in Black Hawk.

Burial will follow at the Piedmont Cemetery.
