IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel D
Woods
March 19, 1949 – June 1, 2025
Daniel D. Woods, born on March 19, 1949, in the wide-open spaces of South Dakota, decided to take his final joyride on June 1, 2025, at the age of 76, in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Born into a world with plenty of open sky and few fences, Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and football. His favorite teams were the San Fransico 49'ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, you could hear his excitement from across the house when his team would score. He was a man who appreciated the simple pleasures, like the quiet patience of a day spent waiting for a fish to bite or the thrill of a well-placed shot.
Danny was a man who knew how to fix things from his service in the Army—cars, mostly—and his skills under the hood were rivaled only by his ability to catch the biggest fish or get the biggest buck. As an auto mechanic, he spent a lifetime getting engines running like new, mostly for friends and family. He taught his sons how to work on cars at a very early age and they both possess this skill until this very day.
Though Danny has left this world, his spirit lives on in the cherished memories of those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil S. Woods and Lila H. Woods; his brothers, Francis and Larry Woods; and his sister, Evelyn Solano and his grandson Zackery Woods.
He is survived by his sisters Virginia Syverson, Louise Kleinschmit and Myrna Clough and his sons, Sean Woods and his wife Tram Ho, and Nathan Woods and his wife Jessie, 6 grandkids and 5 great-grandkids, who will carry forward his memory and values.
Danny spent his final days sitting on the back deck looking out over the Elizabeth River watching the fish jump and watching the crab and fishing boats going back and forth. He found peace outdoors doing and seeing the things he loved.
Rest easy, Danny. May the roads be smooth, the fish be biting, and the engines always start on the first try.
