Darleen Helen Angel, 92, passed away July 6, 2017 at her son's home in Rapid City. Darleen was born October 29, 1924 in rural Platte, South Dakota, the youngest of three daughters to Guy and Tilda (Qualm) Fuller.
When she was 9 years old, the family moved to Deerfield, SD where she attended country school. She always enjoyed telling stories about living on the farm. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1942.
She met her husband, Gordon Angel, in high school, and a few years later they were married on April 2, 1944 in California when Gordon was in the Merchant Marines, a marriage that lasted seventy years. She worked at Rohr Aircraft in California while Gordon was in the service during WWII .
After the War, she and Gordon moved to the Lakeside area in western South Dakota where they farmed and ranched north of Owanka. After several years on the ranch, they moved to Rapid City.
She worked for Summit Construction in Rapid City for seventeen years and thoroughly enjoyed her years at Summit.
She was a member of First Christian Church, and she enjoyed painting pictures, gardening, playing the piano, and going for rides in the hills.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Anderson (Wayne), and her son, Gary Angel, both of Rapid City as well as eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two great- greatgrandchildren. She loved her children and grandchildren very much and spent many, many hours babysitting for them whenever she had the chance.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, her parents, and two sisters, Eleanor Angel (Kenny) and Evelyn Brassfield (Ralph).
