RAPID CITY – Darlene Joyce Stido, 94, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Darlene was born on April 15, 1930 in Rapid City to Alley and Donna (McDaniels) Comer. She married Charles Stido and together they grew their family to include four daughters.
Darlene worked a variety of careers primarily serving as the freight manager at Kresges, she also served as the manager at Dairy Queen on Canyon Lake Drive for many years. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, tending to her garden and flowers as well as crocheting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters; Sherri Beaver (Tony) Salisbury, North Carolina, Debbie Allen (Ralph) Black Hawk, Pam Lowe (Doug) Black Hawk, and Kim O'Rourke (Rick) Roosevelt, Arizona, as well as eleven grandchildren Amy Hill (Don) Rockwell, North Carolina, Angie Boyd (Jeff) Woodleaf, North Carolina, Holly Beaver (Jeff) Concord, North Carolina, Christy Miller (Mark) Black Hawk, Steve Allen (Jen) Black Hawk, Michelle McGuire (James) Black Hawk, Amber Foster (Brandon) Black Hawk, Jeremy Lowe (Melanie) Black Hawk, Brittney Brunmaier (Garrett) Mitchell, Alex Eisenbraun (Taylor) Wichita, Kansas, Daphne Filbert (Allen Thompson) Watertown, and 25 Great Grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren including one on the way in October 2024.
Darlene was preceded in death by husband Charles, her parents, and her grandson, Walter J.D. O'Rourke and lifelong friend Genny Liebig. The family would also thank St. Martin's Nursing Facility/Hospice for the care and that they did.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
