Darold Schmidt, 82, died Sunday, May 22, 2022, in Rapid City.

Darold Lee Schmidt was born January 16, 1940 in Pollock, South Dakota to Kasper and Sophia (Weber) Schmidt. He attended school and graduated from Pollock High School.

He worked for Gambles Hardware Store for over 20 years in Mobridge, Pierre, and Milbank. He then worked for National Federation of Independent Business [NFIB] and National Write Your Congressman, after which he retired.

He loved motorcycles, especially his Harley Davidson. He liked to go fishing and boating on Big Stone Lake and also enjoyed pheasant hunting. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins and is remembered to have a "sweet tooth."

Survivors include his two daughters: Marsha [Joe] Wood of Phoenix, AZ; Michele [Brian] Staton of Rapid City, SD; two grandchildren: Kaylee and McKenzie; one great-grandchild: Riley; and a special nephew Tom Renner.

Darold was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Raymond; and three sisters: Shirley, Lucille, and Eva.

A family memorial will be held at a later date.
