Rapid City – Darwin Jensen, 84, died Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Avantara Mountain View.

Darwin Dean Jensen was born on October 20, 1936 in Audubon, Iowa to Clifford and Orpha Petersen) Jensen. He graduated from Audubon High School and Yankton College, majoring in Business Administration. He was drafted into the Unites States Army and received an honorable discharge.

He began his career with Sears, Roebuck, and Company in Sioux Falls, SD managing the Home Improvement Department. He was promoted to the Assistant Manager position in Rapid City. His next promotion was to the corporate office in Chicago, IL where he served as National Field Operator. He later returned to store management in Minot, ND and Sioux City, IA. After his career with Sears, he wanted to settle his family into a permanent home life thus returning to Rapid City, where he started his business, Jensen Hardwood Floors, with his son Craig.

Darwin is survived by his wife Barbara of 64 years, sons: Craig and Curt; daughter Cara and son in law Dan Walker; granddaughter Aynsley Walker; sister Valonda Breen; and family friend Brian Larson.

Preceding him to heaven were his parents, brothers James and Virgil and daughter in  law Shannon Jensen.

May he be remembered as a good hearted, honorable, Christian man.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 am Friday, August 27, 2021 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with funeral services at 10:00 am.

Interment will be at 12:00 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, SD.
