Obituary

RAPID CITYDavid H. Cook, 86, died at a local nursing home on Sunday, July 27, 2008. David was born in Mitchell on August 26, 1921, to Charles and Bertha (Horsley) Cook. He grew up in Draper and graduated from high school in Philip. After school he worked on the family farm. On October 15, 1943, he was united in marriage to Ruby Valsvig in Rapid City. The couple remained on the farm until they moved to Rapid City in 1956. David was a dental lab technician and worked for A. G. Olson, Ray Dental and for I. H. S. Sioux San. He retired in 1988. David was a hard worker and enjoyed yard work and gardening. He liked square-dancing, horses, woodworking, his dogs, and he was very devoted to Ruby. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Ruby Cook, of Rapid City; his three daughters, Carla Anderson and her husband, Jim, of Bassett, NE, Annette Christman her husband, Dave and Kayleen Fenenga and her husband, Jim, all of Black Hawk; his son Dennis Cook, of Kent, WA; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Amaretta Wingert and a brother in infancy. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, July 30, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 5311 Sheridan Lake Rd., with Pastor Dwight Stensgaard officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
