Obituary

RAPID CITY-David A. Ploof, 80, of Rapid City passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his home with his wife Patty at his side.

Dave was born October 7, 1936 in Rochester, Minnesota the youngest child of Callan and Theresa Ann Ploof. He was very proud to grow up and call Austin, Minnesota his hometown. He graduated from Austin High School where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. After graduating from Mankato State with a B.S. in Business Education, he taught for two years in Jasper, Minnesota. He also served in the Minnesota National Guard and the U.S. Army.

In 1963 Dave moved to Rapid City and continued teaching business courses at Rapid City Central for 36 years. He especially loved teaching business law classes because he felt it was important knowledge for his student's future careers. Dave thoroughly enjoyed coaching Cobbler wrestling for 25 years and Post 22 Baseball for 47 years.  Most important to David was seeing his students and athletes succeed in their chosen careers and become contributing members in their communities.

One of David's favorite passions was cooking for his friends and family. It gave him great pleasure to share his homemade soups and "world famous" spaghetti sauce with his cherished and longtime friends.

David and Patty were married on November 21, 1987 and shared a wonderful life together for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Patty of Rapid City and his sister Theresa of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, (Berwyn) and one sister (LaDonna).

Visitation will be on Friday, June 2nd from 5-7 pm at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City.
