David Leroy Steele, III, 73, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Ft. Meade, South Dakota.

David was born on October 4, 1951 in Rapid City to David and Theo Marjorie (Adams) Steele. He was a member of the Ogalala Sioux Tribe.

A proud veteran and beloved husband, David lived a life marked by quiet strength, dedication, and service. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army as an E5 on November 16, 1976 after faithfully serving our country during the Vietnam war era. He received many medals and accommodations, most notably, the Army commendation medal.

David is survived by his wife, Margaret Steele, Rapid City; daughter, Erica; stepson, Ronnie; and stepdaughter, Michelle; brother, Ronnie Steele; and sisters: Joan Steele and Rachael Steele; who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Steele.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 with a rosary service at 6:00 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. with full military honors rendered by the VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota Army National Guard, Camp Rapid.
