RAPID CITY- David "Butch" Zimmerschied, Sr., 78, died Monday, December 14, 2020.
Butch was born in Sundance, Wyoming and moved to Rapid City where he attended his school years. Following graduation from high school in Rapid City, he then joined the U.S. Navy. After spending many years around the country, in various careers, he retired to spend his days in the Black Hills, a place he loved so much. From his earliest memories to his final days, he carried his fishing gear for one more cast.
David is survived by his children: Kelly Zimmerschied Hill (Dennis); David Zimmerschied Jr.; Martin Zimmerschied (Deb); Ong Xiong (Kevin); Douglas Zimmerschied (Champa); Daniel Zimmerschied (Rose); Brandon Zimmerschied (Gao); Jonny Zimmerschied (J'hia); sister, Lenis Pato; 17 grandchildren and special friend, Sue Berg.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Zook; father, David O. Zimmerschied; and grandson, Matthew.
No services are planned at this time. Burial is planned at Black Hills National Cemetery late April 2021.
