Dean C. Foucault, 84, of Rapid City, died Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Dean was born on July 31, 1933 to Harvey and Sarah (LaBrosse) Foucault in Duluth, MN. He grew up in Duluth, and after high school graduation, joined the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955.

He worked in the mine at Silver Bay, MN.

October 10, 1979, Dean married Bernadine Christianson in Virginia, MN. He and Bernie moved to Wyoming where he worked for the Thunder Basin Mine in Wright as a train loadout operator. Dean retired in 1993 and they moved to Rapid City where he worked for Target. In 2006 they moved to the SD State Veterans Home in Hot Springs where he worked at the Veterans Honored Interment program. Dean and Bernie moved back to Rapid City in 2016. He was active in the Korean War Veterans chapter in Rapid city and the Westside Kiwanis Club.

Dean is survived by his wife, Bernie, Rapid City, son, Jim Christianson, Skibo, MN, two daughters; Terri Korpela, Aurora, MN and Debra (Mitchell) Buergel, Enver Grove Heights, MN, grandchildren; Ryan (Heather) Korpela, Eric Korpela, Jenna (Erik) Vosejpka, Amy (Jesse) Perry, Benjamin (Chelsea) Buergel and Larry Christianson, II, 5 great grandchildren; Kaylee Korpela, Aubry Korpela, Jack Korpela, Max Korpela and Colton Vosejpka, nieces and nephews; Chris Foucault, Dawn Foucault, Robert (Danielle) Noldin, Debra (Fred) Watterson, Kim Noldin, Mike Noldin and Jim Noldin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Christianson, brother, Donald and sister, Diane Burt.

A visitation will be held from 5 – 7pm, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A Christian Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, January 19 at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont. Interment with military honors will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.
