Rapid City, SD | Delores Edith Catron Miller, 83, Rapid City, passed away Sunday, Aug 27, 2023 at Rapid City Monument Hospital.

Delores was born March 14, 1940 as the only child of Dale & Mary Payne. Delores grew up on a farm in Vale, SD. She graduated from Vale High School in 1958 and attended BH State College earning Majors in Elementary & Special Education with Minor in Music.

Delores married Dennis Catron on June 10, 1961. In 1968 they built the Catron Funeral Home and Delores started a Montessori Pre-School, in their home. In 1980 Delores started Kindermusik. Delores lovingly taught many young students over 32 years.  Dennis passed away June 5, 1998, after 37 years of marriage.

Delores faithfully served on the board of Catholic Social Services from 1991-1999 and was awarded their Order of Saint Benedictine Medal in 2022 for her service during the 1972 Rapid City flood disaster.

Delores married Tom Miller in 2006, who died two years later.

One of the most beautiful things in her life happened towards the end, when she was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Jim Miller. In school, they had received the award of "most likely to be the first couple to visit the moon together."  They were married in 2016 in a grand wedding ceremony.  Jim died in 2019.

Survivors include daughters, Deanne Mulvehill and Renee Catron of Rapid City; son Jeff Catron of Texas; and her 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Delores was a wonderful wife, teacher, mother, grandmother and had a deep faith in God.

Her visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, September 4, 2023 and at 7:00 pm there will be a Vigil Service and Recital of the Rosary all at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. (Formerly Osheim & Catron Funeral Home).

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City.
