RAPID CITY | Delores Corrine (Anderson) Hamm, 88, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Westhills Village Retirement Community. Delores was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Plainview, SD, to the late Barbara (Oberstaller) and Harry Anderson. She was the first born and had three younger brothers. They lived in Plainview on her family's turkey farm until they moved to Rapid City. Delores finished her schooling in Rapid City and was valedictorian of her high school class at Cathedral High School. She met many lifelong friends during this time, including her sweetheart Kenneth Hamm. After graduation she worked as a secretary in the defense industry in South Dakota, and then in Denver during WWII. After WWII, she returned to Rapid City and married Kenneth Hamm, also of Rapid City, on Aug. 29, 1946. They built their house and life in Rapid City and had two daughters, Janan and Julie. Delores was a devout Catholic and was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband. She also loved making ceramics, sewing, baking and having her friends over for coffee. Delores is survived by her daughter, Janan Hamm and her husband George Fitch of Sterling, MA; granddaughters, Adriane (Denneno) Ziminsky and her husband Nicholas Ziminsky and Jill Denneno of Chelmsford, MA; as well as many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Hamm; a daughter, Julie (Hamm) Bonner; and her three younger brothers, Manny Anderson, Darrell Anderson and David Anderson. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with 7 p.m. Christian Wake Service and rosary on Thursday, Aug. 27, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with Rev. Grant Gerlach presiding. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
