She began work at Tally's Restaurant and worked there from 1958 – 1962. Her next job began at Soo San Hospital and worked there for 40 years as housekeeping supervisor.

Delores has 5 children that she loved and raised here in Rapid City. She is survived by her children: Debra Rencountre (Jim Rencountre/children: Derrick Hayes, Earl Rencountre, Delores Rencountre, Ben Rencountre), Stacey Hayes (Peter Caposella/children: Stephanie Hayes, Cassidy Hayes), Terry Warren (Sam Moore, Jesse Warren/children: Jimmy Warren, Rose Warren, Jennifer Warren, Sarah Warren, Chaske Moore), Reva Hayes (children: Courtney Hayes, Ranen Day-Hayes, Sunshine Hayes, Stormy Hayes, Skye Hayes, Tyson Killspotted, Ian Drum), Daris Hayes.  For a total of 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, though she was grandma to everyone on the powwow circuit.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father: Rose and Ben Killspotted; her brothers: Dewey and Larry Killspotted; husband Larry Hayes; daughter Stacey Hayes; and granddaughter Stephanie Hayes.

Our mother has danced on the powwow trail her entire life and has won many championships. In 1985 she joined a group of Native Americans and began the Black Hills Powwow that still goes on to this day. She traveled the powwow circuit with her family making friends and family along the way. Our mother has such a strong will that she is our miracle. The family is at peace with knowing that she is dancing with our ancestors in the stars.
