Rapid City - Delores Schultz, 89, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospital, Rapid City, SD. Delores was born January 11, 1925 in rural LeMars, Iowa to Louis and Marguerite (Kading) Heidbrink. She was raised in rural LeMars and graduated from LeMars Central High School in 1941. On January 14, 1945, Delores married Dale E Schultz, Seaman 1st Class, US Navy. After the war, they farmed in Plymouth County Iowa. In 1965 they moved to McFarland, California where they co-managed a Western Auto Store until their retirement in 1983. They moved to Rapid City in 1984. Dale and Delores spent their early retirement years working part time at Hardware Hank, where they enjoyed making new friends and becoming part of the community. They loved traveling, sports, hosting family and friends at their home, and especially spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy this past year was visiting with her new grand-babies. Delores was a member of South Canyon Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed the Ruth Circle and her Quilting Group. She received excellent care for the past year at Golden Living Care Center. Delores is survived by her five children: Marilynn Engelbrecht (James) of Rapid City; Linda Meakin (Dick) of Sutter, CA; Eugene Schultz (Karol) and Danny (Jackie) of Bakersfield, CA; Wayne Schultz of Philip, SD; eleven grandchildren: John Engelbrecht (Tiffany Hansen) of Iowa City, IA; Jennifer Kruger (Kevin) and Stephanie Engelbrecht (Mike Figge) of Rapid City. Stacy Weisgerber (David) of Livermore, CA; Darla Adams and David Meakin of Oroville, CA; Ashley Schultz and PJ Schultz of Bakersfield, CA; Megan Richards (Nelson) of Fresno, CA; Sarah Schultz of Bakersfield, CA; Claire Schultz of Greeley, CO; five great-grandchildren: Joshua and Adam Engelbrecht of Iowa City; Amy and Katelynn Kruger, and Caleb Figge of Rapid City; one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Harold Freking of LeMars, Iowa. Delores was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dale; and by her brothers, Wesley and Duane Heidbrink of LeMars, Iowa. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday Dec 3, 2014 at South Canyon Lutheran Church, 700 44th Street, Rapid City with Rev. Bruce Thalacker officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD at 1:30 PM. A memorial has been established at South Canyon Lutheran Church.
