Obituary

Rapid City - Delores Kaye Walters, 69, of Rapid City, South Dakota, departed to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at

Regional Health Home + Hospice House.

Delores was born September 2, 1948, in Wagner, South Dakota to James Stricker and Carmen

Johnson. She was raised by her adoptive parents, Denny Wallace and Irene Wells.

Delores grew up in Chamberlain, SD, and graduated from Wakpala Boarding School. She

attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas for two years. A talented artist,

Delores received a free scholarship to art school. Delores moved to Rapid City in 1983. For 28 dedicated years she worked at Ramkota

Hotel and Convention Center and retired on February 6, 2017.

Six children were blessed to Delores: Jamie, Alfred Jr, Jessica, Cole, Stephanie, and Edwin.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

She enjoyed Hills Alive, going to the movies, traveling, sharing stories, and visiting friends and

family. Her sweet tooth was legendary. Delores will always be remembered for her

understanding, generosity, sense of humor, and especially her love, compassion, and care for

others. Her heart always had room for her four-legged friends. She was a mother and friend to

all that knew her and was the rock that held her family and extended family together.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pastor Ken Schultz of Emmanuel Baptist

Church, 200 N. Ellsworth Rd., Box Elder, SD 57719, to continue to provide spiritual support to

the community.

Survivors include: Jamie Stricker of Rapid City, SD; Alfred Walters Jr of Grantsburg, WI; Jessica Walters of Mitchell, SD; Cole (Heather)

Walters of Rapid City, SD; Stephanie Walters of Rapid City, SD; Edwin (Lindsey) Andrews of Northglenn, CO;

23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and Jesse, Robbie, Fred, John, many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, June 13, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

There will be also be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service on Thursday.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 14 at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Schultz officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rapid City.

Her arrangements are with Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
