Delton Lee Snyder, 62, died at his home in Rapid City on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.
He was born in Miller, SD on May 7, 1953 to Tom and Janet ( Wilson ) Snyder.
He lived most of his life in Rapid City and graduated from Stevens High School.
Delton married his wife of 43 years, Carol (Morris) Snyder on June 3, 1972. Delton and Carol raised three children; Yvette (Lassegard), Tom and Charlie. Delton worked in concrete construction for many years before pursuing a degree from Black Hills State, after which he worked in surveying for a number of years.
As a retirement job, Delton enjoyed working up at Mt Rushmore.
Delton had a great love for life and his greatest joys came from his family, especially being a grandfather to his three grandsons and spending time fishing and hunting.
Delton is survived by his wife, Carol, their daughter, Yvette (Ole) Lassegard and grandson Aric of Rapid City, their son, Tom (Chris) Snyder and grandsons Adam and Joel of Sioux Falls; his parents, Tom and Janet Snyder, Rapid City; siblings, Marlene (Jeff) Reed, Rapid City, Brenda (Dave) Voorhees, Arvilla, ND, Charlie (Stacey) Snyder, Rapid City, Debbie (Russ) Harper, West Wendover, NV, siblings in law, John (Anna) Morris, Manhattan, KS, Peg (Tim) Schick, Donnelly, ID, Ken Morris, Denver, CO, Bob (Marsha) Morris, Thornton, CO, Bev Morris, Rapid City, and Donna Morris, Arvada, CO.
He was preceded in death by his son Charlie, paternal grandparents, Charles (Tom) and Marie Snyder, maternal grandparents James and Corlena Wilson and his in laws, Joe and Margaret Morris.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Monday, March 14, 2016 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00pm. A Christian Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30, Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Fr. Michel Mulloy presiding. Interment will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the South Dakota Special Olympics.
