Rapid City - DeMaris Hickey, 86, a long time resident of Rapid City, died Friday August 6, at Fountain Springs Health Care Facility She was born April 25, 1924 in Murdo to Claude and Helen Burnett. She attended school in that area, graduating from Philip High School in 1942. She married Warner Hickey on May 31, 1946 in Philip and lived there until moving to Rapid City in 1949. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church. During her lifetime, DeMaris pursued a number of interests. She was active in the Republican Womens Club and enjoyed a number of activities including genealogical study, painting, traveling, golfing, bowling and an occasional trip to Deadwood. She spent countless hours watching her sons and grandsons play for the Roadbuilders of Canyon Lake Little League. She is survived by her three sons: Doug of Denver CO; Mike and Scott of Rapid City as well as six grandchildren: Maxx Hickey, Vermillion, Meghan Hickey, Minneapolis MN, Sarah Holst, Lafayette CO, Anne Hobson, Denver CO Dan Hickey, Chicago IL and Erica Everson, Rapid City. She had five great-grandchildren: Ella and Maggie Holst, Lafayette CO, Jack Hickey, Chicago IL and Lily and Owen Hobson, Denver CO. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Brian Lane officiating. Inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests memorials for a scholarship program to Rapid City Little League baseball so that boys and girls who do not have available funds may play baseball and softball.
