Obituary

Dennis L. Anderson, 92, Rapid City, died at the Westhills Village Health Care in Rapid City, South Dakota Wednesday, April 28, 2010. He was born December 24, 1917 at Redwing, Minnesota. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Dennis married Carol Young on November 23, 1949. The couple moved to South Dakota, from Minneapolis, in 1951 to assist with harvest on the Young family farm west of Onida. They stayed, putting down roots in both Onida/Pierre and Rapid City. Dennis was one of the founders of the American State Bank in Rapid City and he was a organizer and first president of the South Dakota Wheat Producers Association. Survivors include his wife Carol Anderson, Rapid City; a son, Ronald Anderson, Rapid City; a brother, Clifford Anderson, Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Elaine Keyser, Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Alice Noce, Silver City, New Mexico and Mary Anderson, Red Wing, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Joshua L. Anderson, U S Army and Ronna Anderson Schrenk, Salt Lake City, UT, and one great grandchild, Kaden Anderson, Sioux Falls. He was prededed in death by 1 son, Jerald and brothers, Robert & Neil. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 4 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City, with Rev. Dwight Stensgaard officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery, in Rapid City, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post # 1273 and the South Dakota National Guard. A memorial has been established for the South Dakota State Historical Society.
