Dennis E. Neiger, 79, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Avantara Saint Cloud.

Dennis was born March 24, 1946 in Aberdeen, SD, the oldest of Arlo and Dorothy (Angerhofer) Neiger.

Dennis was raised in Mansfield, SD and graduated from Warner, SD. After graduation he worked on the family farm. In 1970 he met the love of his life, Shirley Roemmich and they married in 1971. Three children were born to this union, Holly, Chad and Amber. The couple moved to Rapid City in 1971 where Dennis went to work for Black Hills Wilbert Vaults later working for Eddies tire and then the SD Cement Plant for nine years. He then went back to work for Black Hills Wilbert Vaults until his retirement.

Dennis was known for his green thumb and growing the biggest and best tomatoes around. He will also be remembered for fixing things, helping others and never knowing a stranger. His biggest joy in life was his family and loved following the grandkids in their sporting events, telling them jokes or just sharing a word of encouragement.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley, daughters, Holly (Mike) McQuay of Black Hawk, Amber (Naiem) Alsuleiman of Rapid City, son, Chad (Tiffini) of Black Hawk. Dennis also leaves behind his grandchildren, Blane, Kylee, and Caleb McQuay and Kane Larvie, siblings, Doug (Marie) Neiger, Larry (June) Neiger, Cheryl (Bob) Embree, Alan (Lauren) Neiger, brother in law, John Roemmich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in laws, a sister in law and a nephew.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2026 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Black Hawk.
