RAPID CITY – Derek Young Eagle, 47, died Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Monument Health Hospital.

He was born August 1977 to Daryl Young Eagle and Lillian Chasing Bear. Derek graduated from Trenton, North Dakota. He was a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe at Ft. Yates, North Dakota.

He was often referred to as "the male gigolo" by friends and family. He had a personality that could light up a room and was loyal to family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Benoist; brothers: Phillip, Rudy, Ivan and Gabe.

Derek is survived by his father, Daryl Young Eagle; brothers: Cory Walks, Donivan Killspotted and Tony Blanch; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A very big thank you to his brother, Cory Walks. You know he loved you.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 27th will start at 2:00 p.m. with services starting at 6:00 p.m. and an all night wake at On Common Ground (610 St. Francis St., Rapid City, SD 57701).

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28th, at On Common Ground.

Burial will follow at 11:30 at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
