Rapid City - Destry Jonethan Franzen, 59, formerly of Edgemont and a longtime resident of Rapid City died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his residence in Rapid City. Destry Jonethan Franzen was born October 16, 1955 in Deadwood, SD to Doris (Richardson) and George Franzen. He was the oldest of six siblings, brothers: Gary Franzen and Jay (Terrie) Franzen, Rapid City, SD, sisters: Medora (Tony)Wieser, Pierre, Lacia (Mark) Fox, and Echo (Joe) Brosmire, both of Edgemont; children: Zachariah Lee (Bridget) Franzen, Rapid City and Jayme Nicole (Tim) Alexander, Edgemont; three grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and special friends Steve and Janis (Lehman) Taffe of Custer. He was preceded in death by his father George, mother Doris and younger brother Gary. Destry was very sports oriented in High School and he broke several records in football and track. His work included ranching, mechanics and drill rigs throughout the years. He loved watching football and nascar with his brother Jaybird. He also was big into rock hunting, singing, yodeling, and story-telling. Most of all he loved his rock and roll. Destry had a special bond with his niece Leah Franzen.
