Diane Lee Scott "Danny" died on September 12 in Rapid City, South Dakota at the age of 73 from complications of amyloidosis. She and her husband, Arvid Scott, also resided in Mesa, Arizona.
Diane was born on January 20, 1943 in Snohomish, Washington to Ruth Anderson Koehler and Jack Koehler. She was raised on a farm outside of Plankinton, South Dakota where she was joined by three siblings: Jean Starr, Mary Jo Swanson, and Bill Folan.
Diane married Richard Krell and they had three children: Jan McMahon, Jeff Krell, and Julie Fredericksen.
On May 19, 1984, Diane married Arvid Scott and they moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. Together they ran multiple family businesses with Arvid's children Lori and Tim Scott.
Diane was an accomplished seamstress and ran her own business, Diane's Draperies, for many years. She was an excellent cook. She used her skills extensively at the family resort and passed her passion for good food on to her children and grandchildren. She was well known as the best dessert maker in the community of Leisure World in Mesa, Arizona, where she and Arvid owned a second home. Diane and her husband especially enjoyed dancing and listening to swing and big band style music.
Diane was proud to be a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary 6554, along with her sisters Jean and Mary Jo. She and Arvid were members of the Velda Rose church in Mesa, Arizona and she was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church in Plankinton, South Dakota.
Diane is survived by her loving husband Arvid Scott, her children Jan McMahon (Mick), Jeff Krell, Julie Fredericksen (Rick), Lori Scott, and Tim Scott, and her siblings Jean Starr (Tom), Mary Jo Swanson (Paul), and Bill Folan. Her grandchildren are Kaitlin Knudson (Russell), Jamie Dunn, Kelsey Scott, Dustin Krell, Britney Krell, Kyle McMahon, Maria McMahon, Jesse Fredericksen, and Brady Scott. She has one great grandson William Knudson. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews, including Jill Brede and family, Tomi Jean Kusser and family, and Maxwell Swanson. She was preceded in her death by her beloved mother Ruth, stepfather Bill and father Jack.
A service celebrating her life will be held for family and close friends in Rapid City, South Dakota at her home on Thursday, September 15 at 1 PM. An additional service will be held on Saturday, September 17 at the Will Funeral Home in Mitchell, South Dakota at 2 PM.
