Obituary

Dicy D. Horstman, 80, Rapid City, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015. She was born July 26, 1935 at Hugoton, Kansas, the daughter of Queen Victoria and Daniel Cowser. She attended Stewarts Beauty Academy in Topeka, Kansas. She was a homemaker raising her children, grandchildren and all the other children who came thru the door with them. She is a member of the American Legion Post 22 Auxiliary, 8/40, La Femmes, VFW Post 1273 Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers, Navy Mothers and T.R.E.A. Auxiliary. She loved her chihuahuas, spending time with her family and shopping thru QVC. She is often referred to as the Queen of QVC. Also, she enjoyed camping and catfish. Survivors include a daughter Victoria (William) Mahoney, sons Ronald (Patty) Horstman, Philip (Sandra Cuffley) Horstman, and Kelly (Glenn) Elsen-Horstman. 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Sister Donna Hayes, with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold, daughter Nancy, son Daryl White Buffalo and 2 great-grandbabies. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 pm on Friday, October 2nd at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Pastors Keith Stienwalt and Ken Kenstler officiating. Following there will be a celebration of Dicy's life on Camp Rapid at The Coyote Den. Burial will be at 10:30 am on Monday, Oct. 5, at Black Hills National Cemetery. Any memorials can be sent to a charity of your choice in Dicys honor.
