RAPID CITY- Dixie Toscana, 77, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Dixie was born on June 11, 1936 to Walter and Hazel (Fuhrmann) Grapp in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She moved to Rapid City at an early age and attended Rapid City High School. Dixie married Richard L. Stalcup on March 28, 1953 and to this union six children were born: Richard, Randy, Callie, Thomas, Penny, and John. Richard died on September 25, 1966. She married Victor A. Toscana on May 1, 1971 and together they had one son, Victor. She was married to Victor for over 42 years and together they raised and cared for the seven children and all of the grandchildren. Her proudest moments and accomplishments were teaching and watching these kids learn, grow, and prosper. Together, they dedicated their lives to guiding their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dixie loved teaching kids to play cards and yahtzee. She also had a love for camping, fishing, and hunting with her family. In addition, she loved crossword puzzles, reading, and playing Mahjong. She had a special place in her heart for all her friends, especially her mahjong friends and all of her very special friends at Spring Creek in Pierre, South Dakota. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Vic Toscana, Rapid City; seven children: Richard (Susan) Stalcup; Randy Stalcup; Callie (Randy) Stalcup; Thomas (Cathy) Stalcup; Penny (Clinton) Eubank; John (Karyn) Stalcup; and Victor (Corrie) Toscana; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Private family interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Dixie requested a memorial to be established in her name to benefit Hospice of the Hills.
