Donald H. Stromberg, age 82, died on Friday, April 1, 2016, while on vacation in Mazatlán, Mexico.

Donald was born on December 17, 1933, in Lake Benton, Minnesota, the son of Rudolf and Helen (Tweet) Stromberg.  He grew up in Pipestone and graduated from high school there.

After high school, he began employment with Northwestern Bell as a lineman.  Donald was united in marriage to Della  May VanderWal.  He worked his entire career with the telephone company and lived in several communities in Minnesota.  He retired as a regional officer manager in Wayzeta in 1986.  Donald and Della moved to Rapid City 18 years ago.

After retirement, Donald and Della traveled extensively including the United States and Mexico.  This was his 40th year of going to Mexico.  He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, golfing and fishing.  Donald was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise Stromberg, of Minneapolis, MN.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Stromberg in 2001, his parents, a sister, Aileen Rydell and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Rydell.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Kintner officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
