Obituary

Donald N. "Tos" Toso, 73, Rapid City, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Brandon, SD.

He was born in Rothsay, Minnesota to Winfield and Elvina (Norgaard) Toso on March 10, 1942. He attended grades 1 – 8 at District 73 in the Rothsay area. After grade school he attended high school at West Center School of Agriculture, Morris, Minn. After graduation from high school he worked for the Trosvik Farms until October of 1960, when he joined the U. S. Air Force, receiving basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas.

Tos was assigned to Osan AFB, Korea and worked as an Environmental Support Specialist. He was assigned to Ellsworth AFB working in the same field until 1964 when he was discharged. Tos worked for the City of Rapid City as a water treatment plant operator for 1 ½ years until he began working in the Environmental Section at Ellsworth AFB working in the water and wastewater field for 39 ½ years, until his retirement in 2000.

The last 20 years of his career he served as the water and wastewater superintendent. Tos married Margaret Gordon in June of 1962, and they were married for 43 years until her death on October 6, 2005 from cancer. Donald has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Black Hills Federal Credit Union and treasurer for the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
