Donna Kaye Bland (Diedtrich), 1946-2026, of Rapid City, SD, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Berthoud, CO. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted educator whose life reflected a deep love for God and for the students she served.
Donna Kaye Bland (Diedtrich) was born on September 5, 1946, in Mobridge, SD, to Alma Allmendinger and Jacob Diedtrich. She grew up in and near Selby, SD where she graduated from high school. She later earned her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Secondary Education from Northern State Teachers College in 1970, preparing for a calling that would shape countless lives.
A woman of steadfast faith, Donna loved the Lord and sought to live by His Word. She was a faithful member of Fountain Springs Church in Rapid City for over 25 years, where she served with the women’s Bible study, prayer team and volunteer efforts. Her family takes comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Donna treasured time with her family and friends and she will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, hospitality and her love for animals.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, baking and loved spending time with family and friends. She also gave her time to volunteering through the church and Senior Companions quietly serving others in ways both big and small. Donna was an active member of the AA community in Rapid City and enjoyed the friendship and counsel that she found there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Jacob, her sister Renada and husband Dane Wendland, her brother Gary and his son Jake Diedtrich.
Donna is lovingly survived by her children, Marla Mykleby of Longmont, CO; Trina (Jason) Hagerty of Berthoud, CO; and Bob (Tiffanie) Mykleby of Tumwater, WA. She is survived by her six grandchildren: Miranda Mykleby, Coyle and Dane Hagerty, Ayden, Alex and Grace Mykleby. Donna is also survived by her twin sister Della Flocchini, and brother Gene (Joyce) Diedtrich; and many cherished nieces, nephews, former students, and friends.
The service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Fountain Springs Church, 2100 N. Plaza Dr., Rapid City, SD, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will take place later that day at Mountain Lawn Cemetery, outside of Lead, SD.
