Obituary

Rapid City - Donna Rae Klapperich, 49, passed away Thursday Feb 6th, 2014, at her ranch home in Rapid Valley surrounded by her family. She was born May 22, 1964 in Rapid City, SD to Harold and Judy Bies. Donna attended grade school at St. Elizabeth Seton and graduated from Rapid City Central High School. After high school Donna showed livestock with various breeders and worked two years on a cattle ranch near Hayes, South Dakota. Donna then returned home to the family ranch to fulfill her lifelong passion of raising cattle and married Dean on May 14th, 1988 and they started their family. Their first child Hannah Rae was born on June 20th 1989 and son Taylor Dean on May 27th 1993. Both of their children were very active in sports, 4-H and various community activities which lead Donna to her involvement with her extensive volunteer work. Above all, spending time with her husband, children and family were her first priority. Donna's greatest passions were spending time at the family ranches, tending to her limousin/angus cattle, rock hunting and being a "favorite Aunt Donna" to her many nieces and nephews. She could always be found at one of their sporting events and was always their biggest fan. Children naturally magnetized towards Donna and were comforted by her smile and open heart. She had a special bond at St. Thomas More and spent a lot of time there working, volunteering or just being a loyal supporter. She is survived by her husband, Dean Klapperich of Rapid City; daughter, Hannah Uhrig and her husband Justin and expecting Donna's first grandchild of Rapid City; son, Taylor Klapperich of Rapid City; parents, Harold and Judy Bies of Rapid City; siblings, Jennifer Bies of Rapid City (Lyndsey and Rob Whitehead, Justin, Kayla, Kelsey and Andy Sumners); Travis and Deanna Bies of Fairburn, (Karli, Hailey, Madison, Jayden, Traven); Audra and Jerry Vifquain of Rapid City (Jerry, Zach, Sammy, Jake, Virginia); Heather and Mike Jankord of Rapid City (Logan, Cam, Jesse, Bode). She was preceded in death by a child, and grandparents: Lloyd and Marion Bies, Clarence and Virginia Geary. There will be a Christian Rosary at 4:30 pm, Monday, February 10 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, with visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
