Donna L. Stulken, 74, of Rapid City, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at home. She was born on August 8, 1941 to John and Lea (Mehrer) Rothenberger at Highmore, SD. Donna grew up on a farm near Harold, sometimes riding a tractor to get to school when the snow was deep. She graduated from Harold High School in 1961 and soon after graduation, began working for the driver's license bureau for the state of South Dakota. Donna married Douglas Stulken on March 14, 1964 in Pierre, SD. They lived in Selby, SD for 22 years where she worked for the South Dakota Soil Conversation agency planting over one million trees during her time there. She and Douglas were members of St Johns Lutheran Church and were avid square dancers, traveling extensively to dances, including to Canada. She was very active in 4H, bowling and golf. Donna and Douglas moved to Rapid City in 1990. They were members of Atonement Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and painting. Peaches, her dog, was a constant companion, especially the last few months. Her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Douglas, two sons; Steven (Julie) Stulken of Cedar Rapids, IA and Perry (Krystal) Stulken, Deadwood, 7 grandchildren; Jeremy (Kim) Stulken, Kristina Stulken, Jennifer Stulken, Kassandra Stulken, Alexander Stulken, Jordy Stulken and Adrien Stulken, 2 great grandchildren; Jackson Stulken and Kamden Stulken, and her brother Dale (Marjorie) Rothenberger. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Doris Fuchs and Joan Block and brother, Donald Rothenberger. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Atonement Lutheran Church in Rapid City with Pastor Jonathan Steiner officiating. Inurnment of her ashes will be at a future date at Black Hills National Cemetery. A memorial will be established to Atonement Lutheran Church.
