Doris I. Meier, 83, Rapid City, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Doris was born June 28, 1925, in Woonsocket, SD, the daughter of Wylie and Anna (Bartels) Davis. She grew up in Sand Creek Township and graduated from high school there. On October 18, 1945, she married George J. Meier at Huron. They lived in Wolsey, then Faulkton for ten years. Then moved to Gettysburg where they lived for 20 years and she worked for a number of years in the Treasurers office in the county courthouse. In 1982 they moved to Rapid City. Doris volunteered at Rapid City Regional Hospital for a number of years and was an avid bowler, a member of Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and loved to attend her grandkids activities. Surviving are her two sons, James (Nelia) Meier, Rapid City and Rick Meier, Box Elder, a daughter, Kelli Oborny, Box Elder and her children, Jessica (Michael) Cobb, and her children, Alex, Tristan and Savannah, Papillion, NE, Joseph (Brandi) Oborny, Yankton, Gina Oborny, Box Elder and Ashley Meier, and her daughter, Kylie Rapid City, and two sisters, Neda Fenske and Edrie Weind, both of Huron. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1999, a sister, Arlene Kodh and two brothers, Rollas and Rich Davis. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 with Rev. Michel Mulloy presiding. Interment will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park. with arrangements by Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
