Rapid City Doris Sheldon Singleton Larson, 95, Rapid City, died at Westhills Village Health Care on Thursday, December 24, 2009. Doris was born December 17, 1914 at Philip, South Dakota to Clarence and Emma [Williams] Sheldon. She grew to adulthood and received her education at Philip. She married Floyd T. Singleton in 1931. They ranched 50 miles north of Philip on the Singleton Ranch. They moved to Rapid City after they sold the Ranch. Doris was a cedar wood sculptress and pine cone artist. She married Paul Larson in 1989 and they resided at Westhills. Survivors include four grandchildren: Lynn R. Breen of Casa Grande, AZ, Danielle McDonough of Las Vegas, NV, John Theron Singleton of Ft. Pierre, SD, and Wendy Nieman of Pierre, SD; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two step sons: Dever Larson and his wife Vicki and their two children and Joe Larson and his four children. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands: Floyd T. Singleton in 1985 and Richard Paul Larson in 2003; three siblings: Doyle Sheldon, Inez Maxwell, and Esther Gustafson; two sons: Tom T. Singleton and Ward L. Singleton; and one grandson: Brett T. Singleton. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 30 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. William Zandri officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
