Dorothea "Dorothy" Rapp, died Monday, December 15, 2014, just nine days before her 94th birthday, at her home with her youngest daughter, Janet, by her side. Dorothy was born December 23, 1920 in Royal, NE to Maggie (Buckmaster) Briggs and Michael Briggs. She grew up in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1942. In 1942, she met and married Richard "Dick" Rapp. They had 63 wonderful years together before Dick passed away in 2007. Dick and Dorothy had two wonderful daughters, Judy Ann in 1943, and then Janet Dee in 1948. Dorothy was a stay at home mom and kept the books for Rapp Brothers House Moving over the years. She was active in Ladies Altar Society at St. Therese, was an avid bowler and proud of her highest series of 592. In retirement, she and Dick enjoyed golfing and traveling with their 5th wheel. She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Tom) Montgomery, Owatonna, MN and Janet Cushman, Rapid City; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; one older brother; two younger sisters; and her parents. Visitation will be 6:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday, December 21 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Christian wake service at 7:00 pm. Christian Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Church of St. Therese, the Little Flower with the Rev. William Zandri officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rapid City. Memorial may be directed to Hospice of the Hills.
