Dorothy Marion Boyce, 88, died Monday of Pneumonia, Oct. 18, 2010 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Dorothy was born Oct. 12, 1922 in Oshkosh WI, to Benjamin & Vera Rasmussen. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1939 and then from the University of Minnesota with a degree as a Medical Technician. She married Dr. Raymond Adolph Boyce on January 8, 1944 in Chippewa Falls, WI. In 1953, Dr. Boyce started his medical practice in Rapid City, SD so Mrs. Boyce became a devoted and treasured homemaker. They dedicated their lives to raising three adopted children. She loved tending vegetable and flower gardens, making pottery, traveling, and fossil hunting, and working the cattle ranch with many friends and family members. Their door was always open with a warm bed and plenty of food for all. She was also involved in the medical community and Blessed Sacrament Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin & Vera Rasmussen, two brothers; Gene and Frank Rasmussen and her husband Dr. Raymond A. Boyce. She is survived by one son Japheth Boyce (R.C.) and 2 daughters; Rebecca Boyce (Collinsville, IL.) and Barbara Hanks (Alan, R.C.). She was also blessed with one beautiful granddaughter, Breanna Hanks. Visitation will be on Friday, Oct., 22, from 5 until 7 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7:00 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 12 Noon on Saturday, Oct. 23, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Andrzej Wyrostek officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
