IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy L.
Hall
March 20, 1931 – March 6, 2019
Dorothy L. Hall, 87, of Rapid City died at her home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
Dorothy Louise Hall, formerly of Terrell, passed away peacefully on the morning of March
6, 2019. She was born March 20, 1931 in Dallas, Texas to Lowell Mason and Fannie
Elizabeth Matthews. Dorothy was reunited in Heaven with her parents, her beloved
husband, Bill Hall, sister, June Conway and her grandson, Jesse Rigsby.
Dorothy grew up in Dallas and after graduating high school, she met, and later married,
the love of her life, Bill Hall on May 24, 1952. She was a devoted wife to Bill and loving,
supportive mother to her children, Kathy and Kenny. Dorothy was a longtime member of
First Baptist Church of Terrell where she also taught Sunday School in the Children's'
Department. Dorothy also loved singing and she participated in the church choir. Her
talent for baking was well known and folks enjoyed receiving Dorothy's 'goodies' as much
as they enjoyed the visit with her! She was the first to drop something off to a new
neighbor, family with an illness or 'just because'. Crocheting, sewing and all kinds of crafts
were things that Dorothy truly enjoyed along with spending time with her family. When her
health began to decline, she moved to Rapid City, SD to be near family and many more
precious memories were made. Her generous spirit and lively personality made instant
friends of all who met her and her sweet smile will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kathy Murtland and husband Kent, of
Rapid City, SD; son, Kenneth Hall of Bridgeport, TX; nephew, David Conway and wife
Debra, their son, Tyler; grandchildren: Taylor Murtland, Tiffany Smart and husband, Jesse,
Richard Lee Murtland, II, and his fiancee, Ushashi Chakraborty, as well as other extended
family and friends.
Funeral service will be 10 am Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel
with a private interment to follow. Family will receive friends 5 pm to 7 pm, Monday, March
11, 2019, at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations.
