Rapid City Dorothy Faye Headley, 73, Rapid City, died Tuesday January 27, 2009, at her home in Rapid City. Dorothy was born March 23, 1935 to Bert and Lydia (Hidenschield) Uthe in Presho, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm with 4 brothers. After high school she attended National School of Business in Rapid City and worked for Anderson Gas. On November 20, 1955, she married John Headley. For 29 years they lived on a farm near Presho and raised their 3 children Joanne, Helen and Randy. After retiring from farming, Dorothy and John moved to Rapid City. Dorothy spent her time making latch hook rugs and fancy work. She dearly loved her flowers and raising a garden each year. Dorothy was a devoted member of United Methodist Church in Rapid City. She also was a member of Golden Link Chapter #14 of The Order of the Eastern Star and was Grand Warder for the O.E.S. of South Dakota. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Headley, Rapid City; her children, Joanne Headley and special friend ( Jerry Wingert), Pukwana; Helen (Wade) Smook, Brandon; and Randy (Bernadine) Headley, Kennebec; grandchildren, Aaron Smook, Germany; Amanda Headley, Rapid City; Jessica Headley, Pierre; Nicholas Headley, Kennebec; and a brother, Harold (Dallas) Uthe, Presho.and numerous nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Vern Uthe, Donald Uthe and Delbert Uthe. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Diehl and Rev. Elmore Blain officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Hills.
