BLACK HAWKDorothy Neiger, beloved mom and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Morning Star Assisted Living in Rapid City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City with Pastor Mark Bauer, Black Hawk Community Church, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. View Cemetery. Dorothy was born Sept. 8, 1922, to George and Verle (Knapp) Angerhofer in Mansfield, SD. She grew up on a farm near Mansfield. In 1944 she married Arlo Neiger and they farmed near Mansfield until 1965, when they moved to Black Hawk and started the Black Hills Wilbert Vault Co. In 1983 they retired and sold the business to their five children. Arlo passed away in 1988 and Dorothy continued to live in Black Hawk, where she could be near her children and grandchildren, her greatest joy in life. Mom will be greatly missed. She was a very loving and caring mom and a best friend to her children; always ready to listen and never judge. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Emree and her husband Bob, of Black Hawk; four sons, Dennis Neiger and wife Shirley, Rapid City; Doug Neiger and wife Marie, of Piedmont, Larry Neiger and wife June of Bayard, NE, and Alan Neiger and wife Lauren, of Black Hawk; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. A memorial has been established.
