Dorothy "Diane" Watts, 87, of Rapid City, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at a local nursing home. Diane was born February 27, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri. At two weeks old she was adopted by Harry and Hazel (Noyes) Severns of Cody, Nebraska. She grew up in Cody, graduating from high school in 1945. Diane attended Colorado Women's College, now known as Temple Buell College in Denver. In 1948, she and Clifford Watts were united in marriage in Valentine, NE. They lived in Chadron, NE for seven years where Cliff was in the banking business. The couple had two daughters and a son there. In 1955 the family moved to North Platte, NE where Cliff was a bank assistant cashier. In 1958 the family moved to Cody, NE at the request of Diane's father, who owned the local bank. The next year they had a second son. After Diane's father died in 1962, she and Cliff managed the bank until 1969. Then they moved to Rapid City and operated several Taco John franchises until Cliff died in 2002. Diane remained in Rapid until her death. While home, Diane enjoyed every facet of homemaking and growing flowers. She was an avid reader. She was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church and served in many church activities. She also worked in the gift shop of the Bennett-Clarkson Hospital for several years. Diane leaves behind the great love of her family and friends. Her four children are: Kathleen (Larry) Pettrigrew and Chris Watts of Rapid City, Janice (Sam) Calvert of St. Cloud, MN, and Craig (Darcy Krueger) Watts of Sparks, NV. She has eight grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, July 31, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 1, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Fr. Chris Roussell presiding. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
