Rapid City – Dorothy "Dot" "Dorty" Wiehe, 97, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Morningstar Assisted Living Center.

Dorothy Louise Olson was born April 9, 1920 in Vermillion, SD, one of seven children born to Alfred and Laura (Kimball) Olson. She moved with her family to Hermosa in 1929. On July 26, 1945 she married Ross Wiehe in Deadwood. They lived in the Canyon Lake area of Rapid City until the 1972 flood. The land where their house once stood is now part of Meadowbrook Golf Course.

After the flood, they moved to Phoenix, AZ, where they enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and relatives. They returned to Rapid City in 1995 due to health reasons. Ross passed away in 1996.

Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rapid City. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with her family, especially the children.

Dot is survived by nieces: Linda Haberstroh, Cheryl Junge, Berverly Hillman, Debra Meiers, and Nancy Knowles; nephew Robert Stieha, their families, and many friends.

Dorty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters: Helen Olson, Patricia Meiers, Clara Boehnlein, and Elinore Pavek; two brothers: Francis Olson and Lloyd Olson, and niece Carole Ribble.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating.  Visitation will start at 9:00 am.

Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
