RAPID CITY | Duane M. Brink, 77, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House from cancer. Duane was born on August 2, 1937, in Eureka to Frank and Altha (Slykhuis) Brink. Duane attended Rapid City High School for two years and graduated from Platte High School in 1956. Throughout his youth and as a young man, Duane worked alongside his father and brothers building the family construction business. Duane was a partner in Brink Electric Construction Company until his retirement in 1998. Duane married Luetta (Krein) Brink on August 7, 1959. Their son, Patrick Jay Brink, was born on Sept. 10, 1969. Duane served in the United States Army at Fort Richardson, Alaska, and was honorably discharged. Duane worked at Surprise Valley Electric in Alturas, CA. After Duane's retirement, he and Luetta enjoyed traveling to foreign countries. Duane never met a person he didn't like and enjoyed talking with everyone he met. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Luetta; and son, Patrick, daughter-in-law, Hope, and grandson, Taylor Duane Brink. Duane is also survived by his mother, Altha; brothers, Jay (Betty), Doug (Ginger), Lyle, and Randy (Monica); sister, Kay (Rod) Everson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Brink; and sister-in-law, Gayla Brink. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jeff Kintner officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House.
