Obituary

Rapid City - Edgar "Ed" Adamson, 78, died Monday, July 21, 2014 at VA Medical Center at Ft Meade, SD. Edgar LeRoy Adamson was born February 7, 1936 at Creede, Colorado to Clarence and Hazel [Davis] Adamson. As a child the family lived in several locations of which Ed received his education and graduated from high school. He entered the US Navy in March of 1953 and was a Seabee. He was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, California. He was discharged in March of 1961 from Port Hueneme, California. He graduated from Mesa College at Grand Junction, CO in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He married Pamela J. Booth on September 9, 1987 at Ridgecrest, California. Ed retired from heavy equipment operator in 1999 and returned to Rapid City the same year. After his retirement, he worked at Happy Jack Casino and LaCrosse Street #2 Casino until his health failed in 2004. He enjoyed and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Ed is survived by his wife: Pam Adamson of Rapid City; daughter Barb Boff of Olathe, CO, son Pat James of Rapid City, daughter Amber Thompson of Rapid City; grandchildren: Billy Kirby, Jazmyn Thompson, Jaydin Thompson, Brock Thompson; great-grandson Chris Kirby; great-great-grandson Leon Kirby; brothers: Lloyd Adamson of Stockton, CA and Bill Adamson of Riverside, CA; sisters: DeeDee Martindale of Montrose, CO and Donna Austin of Plainview, TX; and several other family members and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Services will be 11:00 am Monday July 28 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard with Rev. Donnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with full military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post #1273 and US Navy Honor Guard.
