Edith M. King, 94, of Rapid City, died Monday, March 23, 2020 at a local nursing home.
She was born on October 12, 1925 to Joseph and Hazel (Shellenbarger) Bailie in Montevideo, Minnesota.
Edith grew up in Montevideo graduating from Montevideo High School.
She married Carl A. King in Topeka, Kansas on May 13, 1943. The couple lived in Minnesota until moving to Spearfish in 1955 where Edith worked at Black Hills State College. During their time in Spearfish, the whole family was involved with the Passion Play. In 1961 the family moved to Rapid City where Edith began her 25 year career as a retail clerk for Kresges and then transitioned to Kmart.
Edith loved to bowl and play bingo. In 1973, along with Carl, she joined the Moose Lodge #1137. Edith was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church until her health declined.
She is survived by her daughter; Janice (Dewey) Gednalske, Rapid City, five grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. a brother, Richard (Geri) Bailie, Bremerton, WA, and a sister, Betty Severson, Clarkfield, Minn.
A private family funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 2:00pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Interment will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
