Bismarck, ND - Effie G. [Schramm] Fischer, 101, died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Baptist Home at Bismarck, ND. Effie G. Fischer, 101, Rapid City, died October 23, 2014 at a Bismarck care center. Effie G. Griffel was born September 8, 1913 to Henry and Friederike Sophia (Plagman) Griffel in Iowa. She had 4 brothers and 1 sister. Effie married Gustave Schramm in 1929. They were blessed with 4 children. They were married and lived in Iowa for a short time and then moved to Rapid City when Gustave helped build Mt. Rushmore. After Gustave died she worked as a seamstress for Black Hills Tent and Awning. She married Tony Fischer in 1980. They resided in Rapid City and spent their winters in Yuma, AZ. Effie enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning and playing cards. She also enjoyed an occasional visit to a casino. Effie moved to Bismarck in 2011 and then entered the Baptist Home in 2012. Bismarck Mayor John Warford proclaimed September 8th, 2013 as Effie Fischer Day. Effie is survived by her grandchildren Cherie (Tom) Freidt, Mandan; Rebecca Crapp, Bryum, MS; Debbie (Rick) Will, Fort Rice, ND; Mike (Cindy) Speer, Anchorage, AK; Lonny (Diane) Schramm, Gail (Richard) Hiermeier, Scott (Leann) Schramm, all of Custer, SD; 16 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren; one son-in-law: Emory V. Speer of Rapid City, SD. She was preceded in death by both her husband's; her four children; and several grandchildren. Her memorial service will be 10:00 am Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Jones officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, Rapid City.
